Wilma Basson (born Greyling) thank you. Curators do regularly complain about exactly that. Please don't leave Geni - we love you here.

Perhaps I have misunderstood some of the observations earlier on.
There surely CANNOT be a case made to justify creating duplicates and leaving them there deliberately merely because some of the existing data does not match up or because some of the managers do not respond to queries about the correctness of data already on a profile.
A solution to incorrect data on a tree surely CANNOT be to create a duplicated and parallel tree by means of Gedcom imports.
That is taking a hammer to kill an ant in my opinion.,
It also pre-supposes that the entire Gedcom import is "better" than the existing.
I would even suggest that a Curator could be approached and by submitting better source data asked to correct an obviously incorrect profile.
A justification remark can be placed under "About" with the original data too so that future viewers can see why the correction was made.
Again I emphasise that a correction by non-managers should only be made when obviously better and verifiable data can be cited.
Just my 2 cents worth. I do not have any vested interests in any particular tree but am just concerned about the possibility of a cancerous growth of duplicated trees due to Gedcom imports going unchecked.
I noticed on his profile, that there are no edit buttons at all under Overview, About or for his profile to update any date of births etc one may find under Sources.
Also there is no Media and Sources Tabs to upload any Primary Sources.
No Curator is heading this profile, so who do I contact on his profile to inform them of any Sources that may be found.
I am going to search for any kind of Sources for him, and if I find any, will let you know here, so someone can update his profile for me to add and upload these Sources.
For Andries Lodewikus Stephanus Gildenhuys h9, I have found the following Primary Sources.
1. A Photograph of him
2. Photo of his Tombstone
3. His Baptism Record - Date of birth 23 Dec 1896. Date of baptism 17 Jan 1897 (as stated on his Baptism Record)
4. His Marriage Record to Aletta Maria Marais - Marriage date 29 March 1927
5. His Death Notice/Record - Date of death - 13 April 1965 (Place of death. Provincial Hospital Virginia, Orange Free State)
6. His Father Hans Jacob Gildenhuys's Death Notice. His Mother Maria Elizabeth Susanna nee Luwes Gildenhuys's Death Notice
(Hans fist married Gezina Catharina de Jager) (second marriage to Maria Elizabeth Susanna Luwes) === according to his Death Records. List of the various Children to the different wives are also mentioned.
7. His second wife - Aletta Maria Marais (Records for her)
8. Her Photograph
9. Her Tombstone
10. Photograph of her and her siblings (Marais Children and their names)
11. Her birth date 11 March 1906. Death date 6 Dec 1985 (as per her Tombstone)
Please let me know what I must do. Or ADD the MEDIA and SOURCE TABS so I am able to upload the various photos and Primary Sources.
If an EDIT button is added to his Profiles, I can capture the other details as well.
Thank you
There also is no Managers on his profile.
If this profile is Managed by a Curator, who can OPEN the various edit functions, I can upload all teh records. Then you have all the Primary sources and proof you need of him, his parents, his 2 wives and their various children.
Then no unrelated merges and adding of unrelated children can be added to this line.
Phillip Guy René de Sylva RE: "I have also experienced huge frustrations with duplicate profiles and merging issues. Unfortunately some requests to accept a merge, or collaborate, are not ever acknowledged by the original geni capturer, who may have become totally inactive, or deceased. It can be a nightmare😢"
Curators can prompt the Geni programme to reallocate the profiles of inactive users to an additional manager connected to the inactive person who IS active. We do try and check that ourselves, but if you find inactive users, please let us know so we can do that for you to avoid constipating the tree.
No there isn't. Add them to this one Andries Lodewikus Stephanus Gildenhuys and remind me to merge it into the tree once we've got this situation sorted out.
Sharon.
I have uploaded all Media, Sources and some info under Overview for the Profile you gave me to do so of Andries Lodewikus Stephanus Gildenhuys, h19.
You must just remember to merge it with the existing profile which show his parents, children etc.
There are no wives added on that profile. So they need to be added as well on the original profile.
RE: There are no wives added on that profile. So they need to be added as well on the original profile.
Please add them and correct parents with Sources to the new one. Andries Lodewikus Stephanus Gildenhuys - it will make it easier for me to merge in to the correct one.
Hi Sharon,
I have uploaded all necessary Sources under Andries Lodewikus Stephanus Gildenhuys and his ex-wife Maria Aletta nee Marais Gildenhuys's profiles.
You can now merge his profile with the correct profile, then I can double-check under the correct profile for him, whether all their children are added as well, as well as the children of his father Hans Jacobs two wifes and their different children.
You will see that under Maria Aletta Marais's Profile, I made notes that her name on her Marriage Certificate is given as Aletta Maria Marias, but on her ex-husband Andries's Death Record and on her Tombstone, her name is given as Maria Aletta Gildenhuys.... (nee Marais).
So not sure if the Minister who recorded their names on their Marriage Certificate at the time, switched her two Christian names around.
