About Salman (Zalman) Margolis
The Unbroken Chain Vol 1, page 117 (Third Edition, 2017, Avotaynu) by Neil Rosenstein, based on his 1984 book The Margolis Family.
Son of Moses Margolis (son of Asher Margolis 1826-1887). Moses Margolis and his brother Jacob left Europe for Cape Town, South Africa.
"Salman (Zalman) Margolis, born about 1875, left his wife and family about 1913 and set out for South Africa to establish a new home in Cape Town. He later left for Rhodesia about 1914 to join his younger brother, Harry, in Inyazura, a tiny village by a railway siding... His wife and two sons and two daughters were kept from joining him because of WW I and it was only in 1921 that they were able to join him in Rhodesia..."
His son, Bill Margolis, was the chairman of their family business, Olivine Industries, in Rhodesia until his death in 2001.
