Rebecca van de Caap

Rebekka was the slave-daughter of slave parents Moses van Macassar *c1688 and Sara van Macassar *c1670, but her surname was recorded as Van de Caap, as was customary to soften/mask the bloodline family traceability of slave-issue offspring. Her estimated date of birth is based on the prevalent custom of marriage of slave-girls by colonists, which typically took place upon the slave-girl (child-bride) reaching the age of about 14 years.
