About Pte. William John Guise
William John Guise was born at Riverton in the Southland region of New Zealand's South Island on 1 February 1897. His parents were John Thomas Guise and Hannah Guise (nee Blackstock) who had married at 'Burnside' in Riverton on 5 October 1893. During World War I William served with the Otago Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion. He was wounded in action and died of his wounds at the No. 3 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium. William was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery [XXVII. E. 4]. Bio by Debbie McCauley (22 April 2025).
