About Pte. Rhys Puw Jones
Rhys Puw Jones was born at Ashhurst in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand's North Island on 5 July 1894. His parents were Henry Jones and Martha Sophia Caroline Jones (Williamson) who had married in 1893. Henry died in Shannon on 30 July 1909. During World War I Rhys served with the Otago Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion. He was wounded in action and died of his wounds in the 29th Casualty Clearing Station in France on 18 August 1918. Rhys was buried in the Bagneux British Cemetery, [IV. C. 32.]. Bio by Debbie McCauley (8 March 2025).
