About Joseph Endicott

"Joseph Endecott (1763-1827) was born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey and traveled with the family to homes in Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky. He married Nancy Faubion in 1786 prior to the family move to Kentucky. I want to clear up some confusion regarding this marriage. There are members of our family who believe that Joseph married Willmett Nation (1772-1855). This is not correct. Willmett married another Joseph Endecott (1771-July, 1833) who was the eldest son of Joseph Endecott (1738-1831) who was the younger brother of Thomas Endecott (27 March 1737-22 January 1831). Joseph and Thomas traveled together to North Carolina after leaving New Jersey and settling there. When Thomas brought his family to Kentucky in 1786, Joseph (1738) remained for some years in North Carolina and his oldest son, another Joseph (1770) married Willmett Nation. Joseph and Willmett had two sons in North Carolina and ten years elapsed between the time that Thomas (1737) moved his family to Kentucky and Joseph (1770) and Willmett moved to Kentucky where they had nine more children. After Willmett's husband Joseph (1770) died in 1833, she went on to marry her cousin, Moses Endicott (1789) on 27 March 1834. The marriage did not last long. Moses died of a fever on 4 May 1834."
