About Jacob Bloch, zu Bruchsal
It is not possible that Jacob Bloch was born in Bruchsal (or that his father lived there) because after an expulsion in the late 14th century, there were no Jews in Bruchsal until the 1590s or early 1600s. Perhaps Jacob went there as one of the first, but found it too unwelcoming and came to Frankfurt to be with his daughters? He is referred to in one record (possibly from 1592) as “in Bruchsal” but he obviously came to Frankfurt since he died there. And even though Ettlinger calls his father “Bloch zu Bruchsal” this should be omitted because it is misleading.
