About Alice Plantagenet
Alice Plantagenet was born c.1415 in Crosby-Morton, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Richard Plantagenet of Conisburgh and wife Anne Mortimer. She was the first wife Thomas Musgrave, son of Richard Musgrave and wife Margaret Betham. They were the parents of Richard Musgrave, Knight (1431-1492)
Richard Plantagenet married a second time, to Maud/Matilde de Clifford. There are some sources that claim Alice was the daughter of the second marriage. The second marriage is factual, but they had no known issue. This was confirmed in Complete Peerage Vol 2, p.495, pub 1912.
The confusion results because Ann Mortimer died in 1411 at age 22, possibly in childbirth. There is an exact date given in www.peerage.com, so it's probably a credible date. I can find no documented date of birth for Alice, just a "circa 1415," which is clearly four years AFTER Ann Mortimer's death. But a "circa" date is an estimate based on other data. The true date could be several years before or after the estimated date.
