

Alexander Irvine of Drum, here treated, is the son of Sir Alexander Irvine, 11th Laird of Drum NRS: GD45/16/1546
14 May 1647: Extract heritable bond by Alexander Irrwing of Drum to Elspeth Irrwing, his sister, on the town and lands of Hirne, in the parish of Banchorie and sheriffdom of Kincardine, in lieu of payment due to her in terms of a bond of provision, dated 14 May 1647, made by their deceased father, Sir Alexander Irrwing of Drum, in favour of James, Charles and Francis, his sons, and Anna, the said Elspeth, Jean, Isobel and Margaret his daughters. On March 21, 1688, he was served heir to his father, Alexander Irvine of Drum, in the lands and barony of Drum, &c. He married Margaret, daughter of Forbes of Auchreddie, and died in 1619 without issue. In him failed the male line of the family from father to son. By this circumstance the succession opened to the eldest son of Alexander Irvine of Murthill, the first nominee under the entail who had dies four years before the last laird. These Irvines were descended from Gilbert Irving, fourth son of Alexander Irvine of Drum and Jane Allardes. Thanage of Fermartyn: 342
