Son of William and Jane Pauling (nee Homewood); husband of Mary Gwendoline Pauling, of Geraldine, South Canterbury. Born in Tasmania, Australia. 2/Lieutenant in NZRB, file number 45037. Served on the Western Front, 1918.
Second Lieutenant Frank Pauling, who died at Christchurch Hospital yesterday, returned by the Marama on January 27, and was admitted to Christchurch Hospital. Death was due to paraplegia [sic], caused by a wound in the back.. Mrs. Pauling, his wife, 'resides at Avonside. Sources: Dominion, (18 February 1919, p. 4).
