When you view a profile managed by a collaborator of yours, there is the green collaborator sign next to the name and you have a link to edit the profile.
Simply viewing a profile won't tell you if you already have a common collaborator with the manager. You can go to the managers' profiles and see their list of collaborators. For people who you are not collaborating with, it shows Request to Collaborate, and for your collaborators it gives you the option to Stop Collaborating.
Private User,
When you review the two profiles you would like to merge, you can, by using the drag-and-drop method in the tree, create a REQUEST to merge them. This request is "half complete" because you already gave your permission.
This Request then appears in the Merge Center of everybody who Collaborates with ALL of the managers of the two profiles. So the more Collaborators you have, the more likely that someone will be able to complete the merge request for you.
This is even MORE SO, when the merge request is made by someone else entirely - someone who isn't a manager of EITHER profile. In this case the more Collaborators you have, the more likely they will have access from BOTH sides of the merge, and can complete it in one step.
I do not know where to turn. I am coming here because there is no obvious link for help. Since the down time of last evening, my home page does not load with recent activities or any threads, nor can I post a message. The revision tab does work, I mean when you click on it the revisions come up. but not the recent activity tab does not. When I want to post an activity or a comment, nothing posts. Nothing happens at all.
PS this feature was working fine before the new geni, and before the shut down last night. My computer has been on and off, rebooted, Norton was disconnected, settings were checked... nothing seems to fix this, short of getting a new browser, which I did before, at one point, when changes were taking place with geni. That worked for a while but did not work well with anything else, so i switched back to MSIE which is what most of the world used. If this problem exists because I am using MSIE and can no longer use MSIE because of changes in geni... I think maybe you should look at a fix for that, since the majority of users use MSIE. We should not have to switch browsers just to suit geni.
Sally Thomas Are the Recent Activities/Revisions working now?
