The only evidence that suggests Israel C. Ewan is the son of Samuel Ewing II and Mary Miller is the baptism record, dated March 3, 1782, that reads “Israel son of Samuel Ewing.” I’ve requested evidence establishing this relationship from a number of folks that show it in their family tree, and to date none has been provided. The date of the baptism record conflicts with the birth date in the profile. Additionally, it doesn’t include Mary Miller. The Gloucester County Historical Society conducted a search of its records and could not find evidence of Israel C. Ewan’s parents. Furthermore, there is conflicting DNA evidence propagated from relatives in the family tree, which casts more doubt of the relationship between Israel and Samuel. Unless someone has a record establishing the relationship, or a DNA test has confirmed it, I don’t think the connection can be made simply on the basis of the baptism record.
