OBITUARY for Harold Bushberg, nicknamed Harry; recent residence: NJ. HaroldBushberg, 95, died on April 16, 2012, at his home in Verona, N.J. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Menorah Chapels at Millburn, 2950 Vauxhall Rd., Union (Vauxhall), N.J., (908) 964-1500. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Gill Lane, Iselin, N.J. Shiva will be held at 63 Fairway Ave., Verona, through Friday. "Harry" never lived more than 15 miles from his hometown of Newark. Upon his return from service in World War II, Harry and his brother, Gilbert, founded the Bushberg Bros. Furniture. Energetic and colorful entrepreneurs, Harry and Gil built a successful business over 40 years. On May 5th, 1996, Harry was awarded the Key to the City of Newark, honoring him for a lifetime of contribution to the city. Harry Bushberg served as a Marine in the Panama Canal Zone from 1942 to 1946. When his family moved to Verona in 1953, they joined the Jewish Community Center of Verona, where he endowed a library in the name of his parents. He cherished his community of friends at Cedar Hill Country Club and was also a member of the Masons. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Bushberg, and his brothers, Gilbert and Sydney Bushberg. He is survived by his sister, Sally Kaplan, and his sister-in-law, Esther Bushberg; his children, Bette Damiano (Peter), Steven Bushberg, and Carol Bushberg (Alex Skutt); his grandchildren, Barry DiMaio (Patty), Marcie Cetani (Cindy), Ethan Skutt, Zac and Sydney Bushberg; four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, caregivers and lifelong friends.
