Are these profiles of the same person?
Pauliina Maaria Talvitie, Taisto Mikael, Anne ., Eija Valtamo and 3 others think these profiles are the same.

What is it you see as not working correctly?

In my example above, a duplicate merge has been requested 7 times, but the manager's Merge Center shows empty.
In my experience, it is a very common situation that the manager does not receive any information about the request.

If you want the manager to react to your request, you need to add a personal message to your request

When I write in my message: This is already the ninth request, I get the answer: this was only the first time.

1) Once a Merge has been requested, it no longer shows in the Merge Center under Tree Matches (=Suggested Matches). Which may be why he says his Merge Center shows empty
If he looks in his Merge Center under Requested Merges (instead of Matches), he would be able find it. But even there - default is Relatives. He may have to change the category after "Viewing" to Followed by Me" or "Managed by Me"

2) Depending what the user has chosen in his Notifications Setting, they may get no notifications of requested merges or they may get ONE notification per day of ONE merge requested that day. So yes, very possible the manager will receive no notification of a given merge request.
Not sure, but I think additional requests for the same merge do not trigger any notifications.

If the Manager is active, and does not soon approve the match, I usually follow up by sending a PM from their version of the profile using Contact Manager, and including a link to the Merge Request, asking will they look at this and approve the match - or let me know why not.
Have done for inactive managers as well.
Also for Claimed Family not a Manager, tho in those cases not using Contact Managers.

The issues you mention are NOT a matter of Requested Merges not working correctly..

Why would you ever write "This is already the ninth request"? How rude.

Even if you had sent them 9 PMs, I would think it would be rude to say so.
I have had folks respond to a PM after a year, because it is the first time they saw it.
Folks have lives. Many are not on Geni frequently.
Many do not consider reading emails from Geni a high priority, or the emails get missed for whatever reason
Moreover
Under Notification, one can uncheck to be notified when someone
sends me a message

Just as one can uncheck to be notified when someone
sends me a request

They do not have to have Geni intruding into their life.

Private User I find it a big problem for beginners who apparently never get/find those requests and therefore don't even get to the beginning of building a Geni tree when they don't accept the first merge request.

I send dozens of merge request messages every day to those passive/incompetent people who don't respond to the requests. With those test messages I have come to the conclusion that for some reason not all requests go to the merge centers and thus are not in any way known to the manager.

Did you talk them through how to look - first, how to find the Merge Center for those who do not know,
Then to look in Requested Merges (and where it is/how to find it)

- and then how to find the word viewing and that after the word "Viewing" the displayed word is a drop-down menu, and they need to click and look for listings under every category.

If you talked them thru all that and the merge request is still outstanding but they were never able to see it, then maybe you are right.
But I think it is more likely they did not look at Requested Merges or did not click there to look at the right list.

As a Curator, if they give you permission, can you look at their merge center as if you are they - and so verify if the problem is merge request not there,
or the problem is they did not know how to see all of their merge requests?

Private User My initial message had the picture you were looking for of the manager's merge center.

I have also sent pictures of how to find the Merge Center, and many times I have noticed that the request in question is missing from the manager's list

I looked at the link Markku Einari Ilus attached to his first message sent 30/4/2025 kl. 10:29.

We have her a person who have added herself and her mother to Geni, not building a tree or anything. There are actually lots of profiles on Geni without any other connections to the Geni world tree. I have understood many of those one or two person "big trees" are started by people who just want to use Geni as a source of information or a way to keep orientated about genealogies while they do their ancestry work elsewhere. I have tried to merge such profiles and I've contacted the (single) manager, but the doublets remains on Geni. I even have an uncle with such a once started one-person tree. He is in my family group, obviously, and have no difficulties logging into Geni. But - it seems ha cannot refind or see the single-person tree he once started but never made a part of the Geni world tree by linking the single profile for himself to his close family which is on Geni and would be easy to link to.

I wrote to the single administrator of the only profile she has added to her own on Geni. Hope my kind suggestion will be read and that administrator soon merges her father's profile with the profile for that same man already on Geni, and that way also come to add herself as his child in the family properly connected to the Geni world tree.

If you have verified that a Requested Merge does not appear in a Manager's Merge Center under "Requested Merges" when the Category after "Viewing" has been changed to "Managed By Me",
then yes, that is a Bug

I would strongly suggest - while that is the Case, so he can also see it - that you either

tag Mike in this Discussion, explaining the situation and offering to PM him links to one or more Requested merges along with, for each, links to the Manager(s) for whom they are not appearing in their Merge Center

Or just PM Mike with that info
Or open a Ticket giving that info - and hopefully, eventually, it will be assigned to him.

Those of us not Curators cannot look at anyone else's Merge Center, so cannot verify that.
Geni's General Manager, Mike, is, I believe, still its chief programmer. He will be able to look and see if it is the case, provided the merge is not cancelled or completed before he looks.
