Hi,

I wonder if there is any mentioning of the father of my grandmother: Eeva Maria Kaisantytär Hammar in the church books or elsewhere.

It is not Frank Adolph Oja who is the father of her older siblings and who went to America much more than 9 months before my grandmother's birth.

Since I am not a member of the genealogical society of Finland, I in theory only have access to material older than 125 years (in practise as it seems material from about the 1870s or 1880s and backwards). This normally is no problem, since the nearest family already was researched by mother and long before her relatives she has been in contact with.

From my other grandmother, on Jutland, I know that alleged fathers (at least in Denmark) often were given in the birth/baptism notes of the church. On this side the alleged father has also been confirmed by several strong matches in his tree.

The baptismal records in SSHY's service in Rantsila date back to 1910. In other words, her information cannot be checked from online services. Usually in such cases, the father can never find out. With DNA testing, the father may be found.

Varsinkin kiinnostaa paikka juuri Fransin Amerikkaan lähtemisen aikaan.
Monta kertaa oletettu isäehdokas on samassa talossa töissä...

Thanks both of you!
