Dr. Roger Parke married Anne Parke his only wife, and had thee children only:

  1. John Parke, Sr.
  2. Anna Merrill
  3. Roger Parke, Jr.

All the other children currently attached to them are actually the children of his son Roger ll, and will be moved to Roger Parke, Jr. and wife of Roger Parke

Susan Avery Is the lineage leader for the Dr. Roger Parke line for the Parke Society.

She writes:

The unfortunate thing is that there is a book written about Hopewell by Ralph Ege and because he put the wrong children in PRINT in the book for Dr. Roger - doing the same thing - giving him Roger Jr's children, people believe it. It is something I have to constantly explain to people - he had ONLY the 3 children I mentioned. PLEASE PLEASE make these corrections to Geni as a lot of people refer to it thinking it contains the truth and the falseness continues on and on. If I do nothing else as lineage leader I want to leave the correct legacy of my Parke ancestors for the future generations to find! Thank you!

Please list Dr. Roger's wife with her maiden name - Anne Patison. I'd even prefer you list their daughter as Anne Parke as she wasn't a Merrill until she married. Under her listing you can put in her husband's name and people can see who she married that way. It is a good genealogical practice to always use the maiden names when known for the wives. That way when searching for her, she will show up with HER family, not her husband's. And often there was more than one husband - so then what do you do? If you don't know her maiden name just list her as Anne - just using that as an example. Thanks!

Hi Susan Avery

The naming convention on geni Is to use two fields for American & English women, surname at birth and surname at death. But you don’t have to see it that way:

Adjust your name view to show maiden name only on your name preferences:

https://www.geni.com/account_settings/name_preferences

If that is the case, then why didn't Anne Parke (born Parke) have her surname "at birth" listed?

Do you mean Anna Merrill Yes, the fields are filled out:

Anna
Merrill (last name)
Parke (birth surname)
