The South African Curators are shocked to have to share the news of the unexpected death of a legend in the SA Genealogy world - Private She died in hospital at 4am this morning of septicaemia which appears to have developed after a back injury.

Go well, our Judi - to kuier with the ancestors.

Devastated to hear this. Judi introduced me to Geni back in 2013. It's been such a pleasure working with Judi and the team at Genealogical Society of South Africa over the years. She will be dearly missed by all. Rus in vrede Judi.

Sad news that this still happens nowadays. My mother passed away in 1944 of septicemia when
I was only a year old. Penicillin was not easily available then. Sincere sympathy to all concerned.

Loved working with Judi, struggled together to adapt to the changes from the 'old' ways of working on Geni, and enjoyed collaborating to build the one tree. She added more than fifteen thousand profiles - one by one, not by importing stuff. She spent so many hours working to gather and share sources to improve the quality of the information available on Geni. Great example and inspiration for us all. We honour your memory, Judi

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Judi was such a help to me in finding the side of my family that I had no contact with since growing up not even knowing that I had another father to the one who brought me up.

With Judi's help, I was able to get the whole family tree from that side imported into my family tree and have met so many other family members as well as finding out that I actually have a long history of South African ancestors going back to the 1750's.

She will be sorely missed by all who are searching for their lost families.
