Cause of death.

The truth is the truth no matter how much it hurts. Yes we may not like it. But denying it is an injustice against future generations and ourselves.

If somebody in my family died in some unspeakable act, either by their own hand or another, it should be stated as such. Denying it will do me or anybody else no good. We can't change the past. We can only accept it, learn from it and move forward.

People do not like to talk about allot of things. It's a sad but vitally important aspect about being human, feelings matter. Yet I've seen and experienced much heartache, unable to link family members with each other, all because some chose to prevented the truth from being heard, taking it to their graves.

The real issue here is not if we should remove things people don't like. It's how does GENI display it in a dignified manner. This is something that the GENI data and web developers only can address.

I did exactly that. Discovered a family member date of death 28 December cause of death car accident.
However the truth 25 December Christmas day cause of death Suffocation Suicide.First was was told I am a liar then that I am being disrespectful to his memory .
I can even add the exact place he commited suicide and the real reason.

My nth grt grandmother hung then her body burned accused of witchcraft. On Geni for all to see.
Not scared of sharing the truth but try to be less severe and considerate .

Just had another i: a complete stranger added cause of death to my cousins father ! Why ?
Plus added her and her live siblings as deceased !
She asked me to remove it and make profile private !

Think Immediate family always have first choice .
Better to make recent profiles private
