The whole family tree for John Hays's wife Levicy (Sutton) Hays is incorrect. Yes, her father was named John Sutton and her mother was named Sarah but there is no proof of who John's parents were or even what Sarah's maiden name was.
Disconnecting Sarah Sutton as child of Joseph Walker & Sarah (Johnson) Walker-Bumgartner
If there is evidence otherwise, please advise.
In case anyone is wondering where I'm extracting this info, here is a link to the family tree for James Sutton and Catherine Dove:

Please see where it describes James's son Elijah as a "white Scottish trader" who married a Cherokee woman named Elizabeth Ward. He went to Oklahoma. Elijah's son John W Jack Sutton also ended up in Oklahoma. Jack's sons enrolled in the Eastern Cherokee. John Seaborn Sutton and Alexander Sutton were born in the 1860's and their apps can be found on Fold3. Definitely not born in the 1700s.
"Elijah was a white Scottish trader with his father James in the Cherokee Nation East during the late 1700s. These Suttons had settled in Georgia in what is now Habersham County near Clarksville area. He tried to get compensation for the farm that was taken through what is called "Reservation Rights" because of his marriage to Elizabeth Ward a Cherokee Indian. He was unsuccessful."
Where does Betsy’s death date come from?
