He might have a brother named Peter John (Pieter Johannes) Roodt who has a death notice stating the parents names as Frank and Louisa. Also, Maureen Swart has found an 1840s registration of a birth by Frans Johannes Roodt and Louisa Suker Barendse, in Coct Steeg, Cape Town. These could very well be their parents but there is no proof. Peter John is witness to some or Francis’ children’s baptisms at St. George’s Cathedral which could hint to them being brothers.
Just one pointer I have is that on the Peterson Website on My heritage, Daaiyan Peterson has the parents of Francis Thomas Roodt listed with names only and no supporting docs. He has the father as Frank Roodt and the mother as Louisa (born Barend, Suker) This of course is exactly what is suggested my Abdud-Daiyaan on his note prior to this note of mine.
I also stumbled on a claim on Family search that Francis Thomas Roodt's first marriage was on 2 April 1872 to one Elizabeth Parker - it mentions her dying in 1874 in Cape Town. So the Marriage by Francis Thomas Roodt to Catherine Menz might have been his second marriage.
