I also had not realised that the "6000000079020527890" part of the profile URL was being referred to as the GUID in the API. I was calling this the Profile ID.
GUIDs normally look a bit different to that eg hexadecimal!
Searching on GUID now in Discussions I can see previous questions on the same issue. Sorry for the repeat.
I cant search the API documentation however so I am not sure if GUID is explicitly referenced other than as an attribute of Profile, which I probably should have stumbled across nevertheless...

GUID is not hexadecimal, and yes, it is the first number in the URL (strip of all before the / and after ? or #).
The GUID was initially the profile sequence number starting at 1, i.e. 1 was the first profile created when Geni went live. Most of the low numbers is therefore Geni employees at that time and their family. Current General Manager, Mike Stangel is number 54, - his excuse for the high number is that he was out for lunch that day ;-)
