This is a very strange person:
NN Palmer
Should be merged with Mary Sedinghouse (NN Palmer), who, according to this source, was the wife of Adam Palmer:
https://books.google.ru/books?id=hV8BAAAAQAAJ&printsec=frontcov...

What evidence to help us decide whether the son is Robert or John; or whether there are two son?

Your link states that Adam Palmer's wife is unknown but may have been a NN daughter of John Sedinghouse

It does indicate that their son was Robert [pp 4-5]

It also shows no Henricus II le Palmer

https://books.google.co.za/books/about/The_pedigree_of_the_ancient_...

Changing Mary Sedinghouse Palmer to NN Sedinghouse, pending actual sources for her first name.

Here too: NN Sedinghouse wife... only son mentioned is Robert https://books.google.co.za/books?id=EI9cAAAAcAAJ&pg=PA437&l...

All also have the line as Ralph > John > Adam > Robert

Unlinking John Palmer as a son of Adam, pending sources.

You are correct, the name of Adam's wife is unknown, and there is speculation that she was the heiress of Sedinghouse.
But this speculation has some basis - quartering of arms etc.
And I believe the "Iseding House" is a misunderstood "Sedinghouse".
This source is better, the previous source is missing the first page (from p. 105):

Yes - I've merged in Iseding - I think it's a typo.

This is what I put together:
1.Ralph Palmer possessed a great estate in the county of Sussex in the reign of Edward II in 1307

2.His son, John Palmer, married a daughter of Sir John Pellham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey - By whom he had

3.Adam Palmer, who matched with one of the coheirs of John Sedinghouse, (and by deed joined ann 48 Edw III with John Stopham in passing over some of the lands of Sedinghouse) and by her left a son

4.Robert Palmer of Steyning in Sussex. He married Isabel - daughter and coheir of William Stopham, of Stopham in that county. (And by indenture ann 7 Rich II divides his father in law's estate with John Bartlett - who had married the other daughter.) By this partition, all the lands in Angmerin, Beringham, Ployng, Ruston & Preston, with parts of the land in Tering and Goring fell to the share of Palmer - which he left to his son

5. Robert Palmer of Angmerin

6.John x Joan, do NN Julian has

7. John, who considerably augmented the estate by marrying Isabel - sole heiress of Edward Bilton - and by her had three sons: Edward, Robert and Sir Thomas Palmer of Calais in France, who died without issue.

See what you think Heering.

I currently have no source to confirm Ralph's parentage:
Ralph Palmer

I think now everything is in line with the sources.

Attached Palmer arms to media files of Ralph Palmer

Great

Yes - I also see none above Ralph.

This is the source for Pelhams:

Unfortunately, it is unclear whose daughter NN Palmer actually was.

Baronetage states that she was "a daughter of Sir John Pellham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey".
But this John Pelham died in 1429. Thus, given the known dates, John Palmer's wife could have been the sister of John Pelham, KB or even his paternal aunt.

Do we actually have known dates though?

Unfortunately, there are not many dates for the early Palmers.
This is what we know from existing sources:
- "Ralph Palmer possessor of a great estate in the county of Sussex in the reign of Edw II 1307";
- "Adam Palmer who matched with one of the coheirs of John Sedinghouse and by deed ann 48 Edw III join'd with John Stopham in passing over some of the lands of Sedinghouse".

48 Edw III = 1375

Thus, John Palmer, who "married a daughter of Sir John Pelham, knight of the Bath, sheriff of Sussex and Surry", fl. somewhere between 1307 and 1375.

There is comparatively a lot of information on John Pelham, KB, Sheriff &c at Collins Peerage (p. 92 -):
https://books.google.ru/books?redir_esc=y&hl=ru&id=mvk-AQAA...

He was knighted in 1399 and died in 1429. So, chronologically it is highly doubtful, if at all possible, that John Palmer could have married his daughter.

Here John Palmer's wife NN Palmer is attached as the daughter not of John Pelham, KB, but of his father, also John, husband of Joan nee Herberts alias Finch. But cronologically this is also highly questionable.

Hmmm... I've taken out dates for which there are no sources... Getting late. Please remind me to come back and carry on here if I forget.

So right now, I have the following - using dates I can pinpoint with sources

Ralph Palmer
Birth: estimated before 1329
Death: after 1307

and son:
John Palmer
Birth: estimated between 1221 and 1329

Sir John Pelham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey
Birth: estimated between 1248 and 1306
Death: 1429

and daughter:
NN Palmer
Birth: estimated between 1271 and 1333

The child of John Palmer and NN Pelham
Adam Palmer
Birth: estimated between 1274 and 1334
Death: after 1374

Sir John' s life is impossibly long.... hmmm...

Assuming the youngest he could have been when he was knighted in 1399 was 15, puts his birthdate at before 1384

The problem is with his parents on Geni: Sir John Pelham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey had a birth date after his parent's (Sir Walter de Pelham) death date.

We know that Sir John Pelham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey died in 1429 - making his earliest birthdate 1329,

so either these unsupported dates 1239 - 1292 for Sir Walter de Pelham, Sr. are wrong, or John isn't his son.

If we use the fact that Adam Palmer is unlikely to havte transferred land before he was 20 - we establish a birthdate for him of before 1354

So now, I have the following - using dates I can pinpoint with sources and extrapolated date impossibilities.

Sir John Pelham, knight of the Bath, Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey
Birth: between 1329 and 1384
Death: 1429 (44-101)

and daughter
NN Palmer
Birth: estimated between 1311 and 1353

Ralph Palmer
Birth: estimated before 1307
Death: after 1307

And son
John Palmer
Birth: estimated between 1289 and 1349

The child of John Palmer and NN Pelham
Adam Palmer

Birth: before 1354
Death: after 1374

I think that fits biological possibility - or am I missing something after all these calculations?
