Does anyone have evidence for Ezekiel marrying Miranda (Jones) Davis Newton? This is new to me, and none of the Miranda Jones researchers I've worked with have heard of this.
We have a Miranda (Jones) Davis Newton currently attached as his wife, and that Miranda has the "known" Miranda's birth date/place and death date. But I can't find where the evidence is for that.
It's worth noting that pretty lengthy bios have been written elsewhere about both Ezekiel and Miranda, and neither mentions the other.
I'm still open to this being factual -- we just need proof. In the meantime, please don't merge the two Mirandas.
https://mormonstudies.as.dev.artsci.virginia.edu/marriage/profile/8756 indicates that the twice-widowed Miranda (Jones) Davis Newton was sealed to a John Smith on January 15, 1846. We can add that to her tree. But I can't find anything on Ezekiel.
Interesting to see that Miranda's sealing to John did not involve them ever living or travelling together; that matches with what I've found about her living her widowed years in the care of her son-in-law. It was purely sacramental.
Randy Stebbing, based on the context of her "marriage-in-name-only" sealing to John Smith, is it appropriate to connect them as spouses? Looks like this might explain why LDS researchers I've worked with have never mentioned John. Should I just make him a note on her profile instead?
Ashley the virginia.edu link you provided is not resolving to a current web page. If you do find that that link starts working or have a different one let me know.
You can certainly put historical info in the "about" section but there is no reason to actually link the profiles together as spouses to each other on geni in this case.
Randy Stebbing, belatedly bringing this back up with the new link (UVa database moved): https://mormonstudies.as.virginia.edu/research/the-early-mormon-mar...
I'm thinking the connection to Ezekiel is simply an error, so I'm going to go ahead and remove it.
