Baltazar D. Cruz, you and I are both direct descendants of Fernán Pérez de Ayala, IX señor de Ayala and his wife, so we are cousins. That makes me a relative of every US president too. Thank you for making the discovery that adds so much interest to my genealogical history too.

Actually, if we could trace our genetic makeup far enough back we are "related" to every living thing on this planet. Unless gene/DNA based life was spontaneously created more than once on earth, or blown here from somewhere else multiple times. In which case we could be "related" to every living thing in our solar system and/or beyond. This is getting way beyond genealogy but it's fun to think about.

According to Geni, I am a descendant of Abraham, not Lincoln, but the one in the Old Testament.
Try to beat that :-)

I am also related to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. I have not looked up the others yet. Since it is suggested that we all share one common ancestor, that must be the case. You just need the ability to trace your tree back further enough in time to make the connections. I am curious. How do you use Geni to find relationships between to individuals? I only know how to find how I am related to someone else. I am new to this site. Do you have to have curator status to do that?

I noticed that they are related to me through European Royal lineages of England and Spain, and Portugal that I am related to. Can't think of the names now, but I will have to go back to see.

When the phrase "Every US President" is often used, it is implicit that "Every US President under the Constitution is meant. However, there were a handful of prior Presidents or the USA under the Articles of Confederation who were at the time Presidents of the Continental Congress. The first was

Thanks for your interest. However, my grandfather Tor Hansen, a railway engineer in Copenhagen, is the end of my "Hanson", my father leaving Denmark to get away from his stepmother, but he was more interested in American rather than Danish History. We are nevertheless straight 10th cousins, with minimum common (12th) great grandparents, Richard Gould, Jr. and Mary Gould (Colder) satisfying the full cousin definition when our two path siblings, Jerimiah (my 11thggf) and Priscilla (your 12thga) are included. A key connection for me is the Putnam connection since my son-in-law has a strong Putnam line. However, we are both Gould descendants.

The Articles 1st President is only a 9th cousin 9 times removed with minimum common great grandparents
Sir William Gascoigne, IV Lord of Gawthorpe and Joan (de Neville) Gascoigne. The Articles "4th President" is Richard Henry Lee, my 6th cousin 8th times removed, with min. common great grandparents Sir Robert Tyrwhitt of Kettleby and Elizabeth (Oxenbridge) Tyrwhitt. The 2nd and 3rd are not genuine cousins, but indirectly related. The 5th through 7th are also genuine cousins, while the 8th is indirectly related.

My gosh, that genealogical research on all US Presidents was amazing. I now find that I am the 13th cousin, once removed of Barak Obama .... and yes I do have Spanish blood too (of course). Thank you Baltasar. Each day is a huge learning curve when you love Geni.
