It would be great if the API for a profile would also give DNA information. It is sufficient with just the badge info on a profile, not detailed information.

Example: { "DNA": { "Y": "I-M253", "Mt": "H" } }

I agree!

I do not understand. But you want to have info if some has DNA info or not. And then only what kind of test someone did take. What is the added value of that?

He proposes that the haplogroup found in the test becomes visible, which means that you can (more or less) search for relatives, if you have done a MT or a Y-DNA test.

You are on a wild track if you think using DNA haplogroup is a way to search relatives. A DNA match is much more than that.

That's not how I meant it, I was just trying to reply to Jeroen who seemed to think that I-M253 was some kind of testing company...

But if you think adding an interface that can access DNA matches is a better idea, I wouldn't mind.

First of all, sorry I am responding late to the discussion.

Private User: Every profile with DNA info here on Geni has a badge or two indicating haplogroups. If there is no added value on having the info on the API, then there should not be a value having it on the profile page either?

My reason to want DNA info on the profile API is because I am using a program that generates a ancestry book based on Geni profiles. I would like to add badges to profiles in the book that has DNA info.

And just to clarify: This is a personal book for me when doing research and interviewing family members. Not a book that will be published or distributed.

I have successfully used Html Agility Pack (https://html-agility-pack.net/) to extract what I needed from regular web pages, - You find the info you need on a Geni profile page in <div class="haplogroup-wrapper" ...

Thanks for the tip, Private User :-)
This tool looks very good, and I will try to use it in other projects as well.
