In Dec. 1965 my Dad walked away from my Mom, my sister, and me. Up until I was in my mid-20's I always felt it was because of me. The 3 of us moved in with my Uncle Tom and his family for about 3 months. Never heard from my Dad until I was 24.

During the early 70's (70-71) we lived on Fremont Av. in north Minneapolis, MN he would sit in his car and watch us walk to school. During that time he also worked for a 'Family'. Would steal trucks and semi's and sell whatever was in the back. He was caught with a truck, when the police asked him about the truck, he said - What truck? Because of that he spent 2 1/2 years at Stillwater State Prison in MN. When the American Indian prisoners were going to riot, my Uncle Bill Craig who was a professor of American Indian study at the U of M called my Dad in prisoner and asked him to take with that group. He did, and they didn't riot. Because of who my Dad worked for, and because he was a member of the Carpenters Union he was one of the 'elites' there. He said there were 3 types, the elites, general, and the Animals. Men that were in for life, had no chance of parole, and would anything for the elites.
