My Name is Alexander Lombard grandson of Elsje Maria Lombard (van Niekerk) and Alec Lombard as he was known. I never knew Pieter Johannes van Niekerk and my grandmother did not share much but my father Cornelius Petrus Lombard (Vooltjie) told me a few things which I would like anyone who has knowlage to verify.
1. Most of Pieter Johannes van Niekerk's siblings died in a consentration camp. Do anyone have more details and records about this time.
2. My father said that Pieter Johannes believed / knew that he was going to die with his sibling in the concentration camp. One day after placing his life in God's hand he got hold of a horse and broke out of the concentration camp. In the process one or two English men got killed. Is this story true or does it belong to someone else in the family or can someone tell it better and has more detail and record.
