About the Wathen surname

A plaque on the wall of the old church in Robeston-Wathen, Wales, reads: Soon after 1291 tax records family of Wathen granted titular lordship of the Manor - they were wool producers, weaving and growing. Wathens moved to Cotswold, Gloucester and Bristol in Elizabethan times. Researched by Mrs. W. A. Llewellin-Davies
