The surname Warren is English, but one of medieval French origins, of which there are three. The first is locational from the village of La Varrenne in the department of Seine-Maritime, and meaning the place on the sandy soil. The second is topographical and describing someone who lived by a game park, while thirdly it may be occupational for someone employed in such a place. If so the derivation is from the Norman French word "warrene", meaning a warren or land set aside for breeding game. Introduced into England and Scotland after the Conquest of 1066, the surname is one of the earliest on record. It is also a French surname, "de Warenne," meaning "from La Varrene".

Balázs Déri :
Some Warren families may be sort of Anglo-Norman origin and may be related to the antique Ivern
and Nangata tribes of the island named after them Ierné ( I-Wern- or I-Waerren ),now called Ireland ,
who in turn may be akin with the Werni ( Waerren-I ) ,alias Warnang ( Waerren-Na-Anag ) tribes
in Sudan at Nuba Hills .
A party of these peoples might have moved to the Hansa region to found the Warni tribe there too .
Some peoples of Nubia may be descended from Anubis ,son of Dionysos ,the youngest of the twelve
"gods" of Greeks, that is the youngest of the twleve forefathers of the people chosen by God ,
the American Indians ,call Aba-Nawa-Ma-Wan-Na ,the generic ancestor of Phoinicians ,because
Aba-Nawa is the ancient Aigyptian name of a Phoinix .
The city of Anubis was Kynopolis ,called in the local language Sereb ,where Srb peoples in the Balkan
and at Elba and Odra rivers might originate .
One of Aba-Nawa's sons ,the firstborn one was Bel-Leg-Ra ,the Belgian ancestor ,father of Anag-Raman-Na ,
identifyable with A-Nubi ,for whom the Anag people of Nubia ,and the settlers from there in Europe called
Anglo-Norman may be named .
The Nangata or Nagnata might have got their name after him as well ,from An-Nag-Raman-Na made
Naganna-ata or Naannag-ata ,that is practically Anags .
The language of this tribe appears to have been the predecessor of modern Tupí languages spoken in the
Holy Land of America ,and of Dravida ones spoken in the exile of India after the 7th century BC ,when the
Babylónian attack on the Holy Land expelled much of the people from the Americas .
Some Australian languages resemble them too .
Australia was called in the prae-exile antiquity seemingly Abantia, after a Thrakian hero ,Aba(s),who might
have been Aba-Nawa ,alias Dionys himself .
The Warni tribe in the Billung region of Saxony was a member of the so called Abodrita confoederation ,
as might the Ivern in Ireland have been ,together with the Nagnata and Vellabri and with others .
Abodrita may derive from Abo-Druida ,that is approximately Australian Dravida ,and might have incomprised
tribes mainly of Phoinician origin ,from the Belgian subtribe ,and from the Serbian clan of Belgrade .
The Vellabri or Vellabori of Ireland may be such as well, related to the Wailbri of Australia ,who might both
be Waillabri,or as well Wailla-Abo-Ori.
An alternative name of them is Elbira ,as if they were Elb-Irish ,that is the rive Elb might have been named
after their tribe ,or with the intermediation of the tribe after another river they had lived at somewhere else .
Another spelling variation of this name is Alb'-Ira ,which amy refer to Alba, that is Scotia ,inhabited by Irish
immigrants .
They are also related to the Ngraiman or Ngariman tribe ,who may also be descended from and named after
Nag-Ra-Man ,the Nubian Anag or Anglo-Norman ,,who might be identical with a Nariman of Indian traditions too ,
and to the Bililuna ,after whom the region of Billung may be named .
Another of their kinsmen are the Wal-Madjari ,as if some of the Abodrits would have lived also in Wales and
would have been Hungarians .It is pronounced and spelled also as Wol-Madyari ,and may also refer to
Hungro-Vlachia or Karavlachia ,some inhabitans of which were also of Serbian origin ,who might also be called
so ,because of their connections to the Ola and Modyor ,or for another reason .
Modyor is the endonym of Hungarians .
So it appears so that the Iwern and Warni tribes in Europe ,likely predecessors of some Warren families of
ancestry originating in them ,may well be of Phoinician origin, from the ancient Aigyptian town or region of
Kynopolis ,where some of the American Indians might have lived and ruled at their 430 years long stay
between about 2136 and 1706 in the Nile Valley .
As it is written ,after 40 years of migration in the desert they occupied the Americas and the attached Asian
regions, then some centuries later the Assyrians and later the Babylónians attacked the land and made them
flea or took them as hostegea and slaves to their territory .
This was the way many of them settled in Europe and in Africa again, and in South Asia ,and then in Australia .
