I was told, by a Cajun, in New Orleans, that our family is the correct spelling of our surname as opposed to Ramie or some such. He also told me that the literal meaning of the name is pole-setter.
It may be true but he was also a huge BSer. Just the same, I have been told that one of my ancestors was a dancer in gay Paris, over 100 years ago.
