O'Donnell is a Co.Donegal Ireland Name. It is especially common around Buncrana.
The O’Donnells ruled Donegal from the 1200s to the early 1600s. Their main castles were at Ballyshannon, and Dún na nGall and Donegal Castle. In 1474, they founded a Franciscan friary here, and the town of Donegal grew up around the castle and friary.
