Evidence needed to support Elizabeth Church as wife of Thomas Vessey, Sr.

Biography

Thomas Vessey was born circa 1530 in England. He died after 1587.

Dates on this family are extracted from the Parish Registers of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Little Baddow, Co. Essex 1559-1660.

Thomas Vessey, yeoman, was probably born in the neighborhood of 1530. He was probably still living at the time of his daughter Sible's marriage in 1587, or else she would not have been styled "the daughter of Thomas Vessey" in the Parish Register. The date of his death and the name of his wife are not known at present.

Children of Thomas Vessey of LIttle Baddow, yeoman:

1. John Vessey b. 21 Dec 1560, bur. 21 Dec 1560.
2. Sybil Vessey+ b. 30 Nov 1561, d. a 1625. Married John Porter.
3. Thomas Vessey b. 12 Feb 1565, d. 6 Aug 1639. Married Ellen Porter.
4. Susan Vessey b. 10 Mar 1567. Married George Semer (Seymour).

Comments

Research in The American Genealogist, Vol. 18 and also by genealogist, Donald Linus Jacobus, shows NO SPOUSE for Thomas Vessey. Even Gary Boyd Roberts's Ancestors of American Presidents, published in cooperation with the NEHGS, Boston, MA in 1995 shows that it's not a definite lineage. ( Elizabeth Church as wife) . Elizabeth Church could be included as a "possibility" only in the biography. Also there were only four children for Thomas Vesey.
