“William was definitely not the son of Sir Oliver LeGros; enough is known of Sir Oliver's life to exclude him from have married and had a family outside England. There were many Le Gros/Le Groos/Groos families in existence at this time; there is nothing to connect William's family with Sir Oliver's. A woman named Elise may have been his mother, another Elise is married to another Oliver Le Gros; they could be his parents, but there are no sources given for those profiles either.”
