BIOGRAPHY

William MARMONT was born 21 August 1804 in Stroud, Goucestershire, England, the son of John MARMONT and Elizabeth HALL

On 21 August 1823 William was convicted of Burglary at Gloucester Assizes and sentenced to transportation for life. He arrived in Sydney Cove on 12 June 1824 on "Countess of Harcourt"

William had a relationship with Harriet POST c1832 and they had the following children

William received a conditional pardon on 1 July 1839

William married Mary WHEELER on 12 August 1839 at Narellan, New South Wales Australia and they had the following children

William died 15 September 1866 at Belong River, New South Wales, Australia and was buried at Bolong Cemetery

CONVICT: Was convicted on 9 Aug 1823 in the Gloucester Assizes for housebreaking and initially sentenced to death. Held on the hulk Justitia at Sheerness from 5 September 1823 until 3 March 1824. Gaolers report says "friends respect".
