Offices Held
Sec. to 1st Earl of Pembroke.
J.p. Wilts. by 1580, q. 1583.
Biography Jordan was a servant of the 1st Earl of Pembroke, who found him a parliamentary seat at his borough of Shaftesbury. He witnessed the Earl’s will in 1570, attended his funeral, and then apparently left the service of the family. When he made his own will, 8 Feb. 1598, ‘visited in body with sickness and lameness’, Jordyn bequeathed the wool in his house to his wife, who also received his coach and horses, money, household stuff and livestock. Should she marry again ‘as God forbid, considering her years past childbearing’, she was to receive an annuity of £80. He died 11 Jan. 1602 and the will was proved 23 Jan.
