Notes for William Freeman:
The first mention of William Freeman in the records is 1711.He took over for his father as administrator of William Wallis' estate and deeded land to his brothers.
His birth date is unknown but would be around 1680 to 1685 based on the ages of his children when William wrote his will in 1736.
Around 1705 to 1708 (Again based on his childrens ages) he married Mary Cording daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Cording.By 1718 William had moved south of the Dismal Swamp to North Carolina. He purchased 250 acres from Thomas Garrett in Chowan Precinct, Albemarle County, North Carolina on July 10, 1718.In 1733 William moved across the Chowan River to Bertie County. He wrote his will on February 7, 1736 and it was probated on August 13, 1737.He left his son John the platation John lived on and a negro woman. His son William got the land he lived on and a negro man.Thomas another son received the land he lived on and a negro boy.Richard recieved the land where William lived and a negro girl.He was to allow William's wife Mary live on at the plantation.Sons Samuel and Aaron received the 640 acres of land in Bertie County.Samuel was to receive the first negro child to be born to any of the negro women.Samuel also received his bed and furniture.
Mary probably died in 1740 (Or remarried) because the estate was divided out then.John the eldest son (As William's heir at law) deeded Aaron's protion of the 640 acres to Samuel because Aaron had died as a minor.
