"William was Laird of Corse, a title given to his great-grandfather, a younger son of James, 2nd Lord Forbes. Castle Corse was not in Banchory but in an eponymous hamlet some 25 miles to the northwest. Their seat was reduced during the Commonwealth, and their burial place, the chapel kirkfield served the hamlet of Corse as Terry Chapel as long as any population remained. It is now in a scattered state, overgrown by a grove of trees. **
