Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormond

Sir Walter. Butler of Nodstown, 11th Earl of Ormond, died in 1632, Married Helena Butler died in 1631 daughter of Sir Edmund, 2nd Viscount Montgarret, who died in 1585 and his wife Lady Grany MacGill Patrick daughter of Sir Bryan, 1st Lord of Upper Ossary

Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormonde and 4th Earl of Ossory was born before 1578 and died in 1634. He is also known as Walter of the Beads

Parents: son of John Butler (son of the 9th Earl) and Katherine MacCartie.

Married:

1. Hon. Helen Butler, daughter of Edmund Butler, 2nd Viscount Montgarret and Grizel FitzPatrick.

His children were:

1. Ellis Butler (d. 19 February 1625)
2. Ellen Butler (d. 16 June 1663)
3. Thomas Butler, Viscount Thurles (1594-1619), married with Elizabeth Poyntz, daughter of Sir John Poyntz. Kt. and had issue.
4. Elizabeth Butler (b. 1631)

Notes

He was created Earl of Ormonde on the death of his uncle Thomas, without issue, in 1614. Through his son Thomas, he is an ancestor of Queen Elizabeth II.[1]
