Ursula von der Leyen

Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen, née Albrecht (*1958) is a German politician and the President-elect of the European Commission (Wikipedia biography).

Most of her ancestors were from the formerly sovereign countries, the Electorate and Kingdom of Hanover, and the city-state of Bremen, both in modern northwestern Germany. Some of her ancestors were from today's Baltic states, then in Imperial Russia. Her father's grandmother Mary Ladson Robertson was an American from Charleston (S.C.) of mainly British descent, with some French, German and Swiss ancestors. Her British ancestry includes English, Scottish and Irish ancestors. She also has distant Italian ancestry.

In 1978 she lived under the name Rose Ladson in London; Ladson is the name of her American great-grandmother's maternal family from Charleston, South Carolina (Geni profile of Mary Ladson Robertson & family tree).
