About Thomas Pratt, of Sherborn
THOMAS PRATT, born ca 1636, probably son of Thomas, ca 1615, [SIC: at 15 years of age?] both of Watertown. Authorities disagree whether there were a father/son both named Thomas or only one. Certain facts indicate there were two, probably father/son. The younger married Susannah and died 26 September 1692, Sherborn (Middlesex) at which time widow Susannah was granted administration of his estate. He is probably the same who took the Oath of Allegiance 1652, at least 16 years of age.
In 1692 his wife Susanna and son John were granted administration of his estate. The estate was valued at 142.2lbs. The three youngest children according to the will were Jonathan, David and Jabez.
Notes for Thomas Pratt:
According to the Claude Barlow genealogical research, Thomas Pratt, with no known birthdate, birthplace, or parents, is first mentioned in the records of Watertown, Massachusetts in 1647.A possible theory is that he was a son of the Joshua Pratt of the Plymouth Colony (see information about Thomas' grandson Ephraim on Thomas' son Ephraim's entry).
Thomas married Susannah (possibly Gleason) at an unknown date and place.
A lawsuit of 1650 indicates that Thomas held lands in trust for Thomas Boylston.Savage identifies him as a "freeman" in 1652.At some later time he moved to Sudbury and from there on January 20, 1679/80 bought from Thomas Eames 30 acres in Framingham, Massachusetts. He bought more land in 1685.Later he lived in Sherborn, Massachusetts, where he died before September 26, 1692, when the inventory of his estate was taken.
