    Thomas Lyon, 8th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was baptised on 6 July 1704. He was the son of John Lyon, 4th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Stanhope. He married Jean Nicholsen, daughter of James Nicholsen and Anne Allan, on 20 July 1736 at Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham, England. He died on 18 January 1753 at age 48.
