Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kincaid-193

Thomas Kincaid was born in 1737. He is the first born Kincaid in America and was a Patriot of the Revolutionary War. He was one of the Minutemen: The Revolutionary War embraced the Minuteman concept of defense. Revolutionaries who supplemented the regular Army as needed were called Minutemen. The Minutemen held themselves in readiness by keeping a weapon, supply of ammunitions, and small amount of food ready for instant military service. When the village "leads" said let's go, everyone mustered and went to battle. To not serve would have been an offense against their community.

He married Hannah Tincher in 1760 and they had 10 children:

  1. John (1760-1834);
  2. Margaret (1761-1840);
  3. Samuel Kincaid;
  4. Elizabeth (1766- );
  5. Thomas-Jr (1769-1846);
  6. Frances (1772- );
  7. George (1773- );
  8. Hanna (1775- );
  9. William (1777- ); and
  10. Sarah (1781-1850).

He passed away in 1817.

Disputed origins

From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kincaid-193 (Comments)

James Kinkead (Kincaid) died in 1762. Leaving three sons, Thomas, John, and James, and probably two more, Matthew and Andrew, and a daughter, the wife of Ninian Clyde.

Many researchers indicate that our Thomas Kincaid of Muddy Creek Mountain was born in Albemarle County in 1742 and suggest he may be the above named son of James (who died in 1762) and Jean Kincaid of that county. A review of the Albemarle County records reveal that the Widow Jean Kincaid gave 207 acres to her son Thomas Kinkead in 1774. Thomas and his wife Mary are recorded later selling this same land to Samuel Muse in 1779. (This is obviously not the same Thomas married to Hannah Tincher).
