- Not the father of John "Baptist" Cissell, of St. Mary's County. They may have shared a common ancestor around the year 1275. See Y DNA test results at ftDNA.
- Tudor Place is not a reliable source for children. Other citations seem clear there were no “surviving” sons.
- we do not seem to know who the father of John "Baptist" Cissell, of St. Mary's County was. See discussion: https://www.geni.com/discussions/195949?msg=1294347
- https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/75944596/thomas-cecil seems in error: “Known as the Engraver. Made the first map of Maryland for the Crown.“. They link to a https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/174756590/william-cecil which seems a mixup with John Cecil of St Mary’s in Maryland.
- Not the same person as Thomas Cecil (engraver)“Sir [SIC] Thomas painted portraits of Queen Elizabeth I & King Henry VIII. He was an engraver also. He came to America in 1635 & made the first map of Maryland. He was given a land grant for his effort by the English Crown. This was in Maryland.”
Notes
From Hardin Clay Roots
"Alias: Sir Knight Thomas /Cecil/ There is yet to be proof that this Thomas Cecil was the engraver who came to Maryland, nor that the Thomas Cecil who married Susan Oxenbridge fathered these children, it is still speculative. Burke's Peerage does not give this 2nd marriage to Susan Oxenbridge,, but the Oxenbridge family is very clear that the marri age, which is documented in London marriage records, was to Sir Thomas Cecil".
Notes from fourth cousin- Carol Sidders
"And for Thomas William Cecil's parents I have John Baptiste Cecil & Mary Calvert. Now we are talking about the mid 1600's for John & Mary. I found a note saying that maybe John Baptiste Cecil was born in England 1634. His parents were Thomas Cecil & Susan Oxenbridge. Now I don't know if this is Thomas the engraver. There was a Thomas Cecil that came over and drew a land map for the state of Maryland. He went back to England but sent a son over to claim some land for drawing up the map. But can't find his name on any boat or ship. Well I have his parents as Thomas Cecil & Dorothy Nevill."

THE MANOR OF FILLIOLS OR FELIX HALL
The Filliols were likely to have been rarely in Kelvedon fog they were constantly engaged, during the 13th and 14th centuries, in fighting against the French, the Scots or the Welsh. In 1346 the Manor passed to Sir John de Bohun of Midhurst, Sussex, through his marriage to Cecily Filliol. It passed 200 years later, again by marriage, to Sir Robert Southwell who died childless. In 1539 King Henry VIII gave it to the Long family after which it went, through marriage, to Sir William Russell, later Baron Thornhaugh, who sold it to Sir Thomas Cecil, younger son of the Earl of Exeter. It was resold in 1630 to Anthony Abdy, an eminent merchant of London — though of Yorkshire origins — whose three sons became baronets ...

A dragon's head sits above the helmet and both the helmet and dragon face left. Two Standing Lions and two Lions on all fours (one with a crown-centered) are included in shield elements.
