He was born about 1411 (aged 30 in 1441) They had one son, Robert, Esq. He married (2nd) JANE CLIFFORD, daughter of Robert Clifford, Knt. They allegedly had one daughter, Penelope (wife of William Abrahal). In 1457 he was sued in a plea of debt by William Forster, Citizen and tailor of London.   • (VIII) Sir Robert Whitney, son of Sir Robert (7), was granted the castle of Clifford and lordships of Clifford and Glasbury by Henry IV in 1404, on account of the services of his father. He was sheriff of Herefordshire in 1413-28-33-37; member of parliament, 1416-22. He fought in the French war under Henry V, and was captain of the castle and town of Vire in 1420. He was named as one of the five knights in Herefordshire in 1433, and died March 12, 1441.
  • (IX) Sir Eustace de Whitney, son of Sir Robert (8), was born in 1411. He was head of a commission sent to Wales by Henry VI in 1455 and was member of parliament for Herefordshire in 1468. He married Jenett Russell; second, Jane Clifford.
  • (X) Robert Whitney, son of Sir Eustace (9), was probably a knight and was an active participant in the War of the Roses, and was attainted as a Yorkist in 1459. He was probably at the battle of Mortimer's Cross in 1461. He was the subject of a poem of Lewis Glyn Cothi, on the occasion of his marriage to Alice, the great-granddaughter of Sir David Gam. He married first, Alice, daughter of Thomas Vaughan; second, Constance Touchett, who was the mother of his sons. She was descended from William the Conqueror, through the second wife of Edward I, King of England.
  • (XI) James Whitney, son of Robert (10), was appointed receiver of Newport, part of the estate of the Duke of Buckingham, confiscated by Henry VII in 1522. He married Blanche, daughter and an heir of Simon Milbourne. _________________________

  • He married, say 1490, Blanche Milbourne,[4] daughter and coheiress of Simon and Jane (Baskerville) Milbourne.[5] She was born say 1468, Tillington, Herefordshire,[6] and died after 24 March 1547/48.[7] She married secondly, as his second wife, Sir William Herbert,[8] of Troy, Monmouthshire, Wales, illegitimate son of William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1423-1469) (Eighth Creation) and mistress Frond verch Hoesgyn,[9] born about 1448-1452[10]; died 1524.[11] Lady Blanche Herbert of Troy was eulogized by the Welsh bard Lewys Morgannwg. Sir William Herbert had married firstly Jane Dunn.[12]
