Marriage* Sir Ralph le Boteler of Wem married Maud Pantulf, daughter of William Pantulf and Hawise FitzWarin, before 1243.1,4

Event-Misc* They sued William de Atre for 7 acres of bsc in Wemme, as the right of Matilda, whereof Hugh de Pantun, Matilda's grandfather, was once seized. From Hugh the right descended to William, and from William to Elizabeth and Matilda. On 3 November 1253 at Westminster, Middlesex, England.5

Event-Misc* Nearly 22 years ago, many knights and ladies were invited to his house at Wmme. A certain knight then present mentioned the circumstance at a proof of age in April 1273.3

Feudal* He held 1/3 Kt. Fee at Codington, Ches., late of Sir Rob. de Monte Alto on 16 September 1275.3

Summoned* He was summoned to serve against the Welsh he acknowledges 3 Kt. Fees, to be served by himself and 2 Kts. On 1 July 1277.3

Death* He died | Manor, Little Castle, and 2 parks at Wmme, Hynestok hamlet, Manor and Little Castle of Tirley, as 3 Kt. Fees, all inheritance of his wife Maud before 10 January 1278.3

On November 2, 1242, we have Adam (it should be Ralph) le Butiller and Matilda (Pantulf) his wife suing Ralph de Hodnet for half a knight's fee in Cummeshal, as the escheat of Matilda. In Trinity Term 1243 and Easter Term 1244, the Rolls supply other notices of this suit as one for two-thirds of half a knight's fee in Cunseshasel, in which Fulk fitz Warin, while Custos of Maud Pantulf's estates, had unjustly enfeoffed Ralph de Hodnet. Eyton.3 In October 1269 It is presented etc. that Ralph le Botyler, senior, passing through the bailiwick of Gaule with his household (cum familia sua), on the Sunday after the Feast of St. Michael, 53 H. III., caused four couple of greyhounds (lessas leporariorum) to run at a herd of doe. The Sheriff is commanded to produce him at Salop on the morrow of All Souls.4

Ralph le Botiler of Oversley died before 3 July 1281 being the date of the IPM.1
