Sir knight Lord John Throckmorton was the treasurer of England under King Henry V

JOHN THROCKMORTON, M.P.

Per "The History of Parliament: The House of Commons 1386 - 1421 (Roskell, Clark, & Rawcliffe, eds. / 1993)" -- "Merely tenants of the bishops of Worcester in the manor of Throckmorton, the Throckmortons owed their rise in the early 15th century almost entirely to John's legal and administrative ability and the family connexion to the earls of Warwick. It was the latter which afforded the opportunity for his marriage to Eleanor Spyne, whose father, a Beauchamp retainer, was a tenant of the earl in the south Warwickshire manor of Coughton. Throckmorton thus acquired a moiety of Coughton (and an agreement made by his widow and elder son with the heir of the other moiety was later to bring that into the family, too). In Worcestershire he inherited from his parents, besides Throckmorton, some property in Rous Lench, and his sucess as a lawyer enabled him to extend these holdings and to become a landowner of some substance............Over the years he acquired parcels of land elsewhere in Worcestershire, Thorndon, Hull, Moor, Bishampton, and Pinvin. He purchased the manor of Spernall in Warwickshire............Throckmorton first came to public notice in 1413, when he was acting as legal advisor to Sir John Phelip, a personal friend of the new King, Henry V."

John Throckmorton's "curriculum vitae" includes --

1.) Justice of the Peace / Worcestershire -- Jan. 1414 - 1445

2.) Deputy Sheriff / Worcestershire -- Nov. 1415 - Sept. 1418

3.) Escheator / Worcestershire -- Nov. 1418 - Nov. 1419

4.) Chamberlain of the Exchequer / Warwickshire -- Dec. 1418 - 1445

5.) Justice of the Peace / Warwickshire -- Oct. 1433 - Dec. 1439

6.) Member of Parliament / Worcestershire -- 1414, 1420, 1422, 1432, 1433, & 1439

"Under the tower is a large altar tomb of grey marble to John Throckmorton, who died in 1445, Eleanor his wife, and Thomas his son. It was moved from its former position in the chancel at the last restoration of the church. The sides of the tomb are paneled and the moulded plinth contains a band of quatrefoils. In the slab are the brass figures of a man in armour and a lady with five shields, one of which is missing; the other four have the arms of Throckmorton impaling Azure a fesse or with three pheons thereon."
