About Sir Henry Bromflete, of Vescy

    Henry Bromflete, 1st Lord Vessy was born circa 1412 at Lonsborough, Yorkshire, England.  He was the son of Sir Thomas Bromflete and Margaret St. John. He married, firstly, Joan de Holand, daughter of Thomas de Holand, 2nd Earl of Kent and Alice FitzAlan, before 27 April 1416.  He married, secondly, Eleanor Fitzhugh, daughter of Henry FitzHugh, 4th Lord FitzHugh and Elizabeth Grey. He died on 16 January 1468/69 without male issue.
    Henry Bromflete, 1st Lord Vessy gained the title of 1st Baron de Vesci. He was created 1st Lord Vessy [England] on 24 January 1448/49.

Knight, Lord Vescy of Londesborough, Malton, Brompton, Yorkshire, of Wymington, Bedfordshire, Esquire of the King's Chamber, Joint Ambassador to France, Sheriff of Yorkshire, 2nd but eldest surviving son of Thomas Bromflete and Margaret Saint John.

Fourth husband of Joan de Holand, daughter of Thomas Holand and Alice Arundel and widow of Sir Edmund of Langley First Duke of York, Sir William de Willoughby and Sir Henry le Scrope, beheaded.

On his mother's death, he inherited her share of Aton family estates, which included Vescy.

Joan died 12 April 1434, and Henry became the third husband of Eleanor FitzHugh, the daughter of Sr Henry FitzHugh and Elizabeth de Grey, and widow of Sir Philip Darcy and Sir Thomas Tunstall. They had one daughter, Margaret who would marry John de Clifford.
