His monument, erected by his grandson, Sir Anthony Hinton, son of Sir Thomas Hinton, is in the south aisle of St. John's Church, Wanborough, Wiltshire, and bears this inscription: "Anthony Hinton Esqr OB Mar 7, 1598, aged 66, grandfather to Mr. Hinton Privy Councillor to Charles I" [3]

Anthony Hinton (son of Thomas Hinton and Anne Goddard) was born 1532 in Wiltshire, England, and died 07 May 1598. He married Martha Warnford on 1569.
Includes Notes for Anthony Hinton: He inherited the manor of Earlscote.
He married late in life to a young girl, Martha Warnford. They had a large family. After his death, his grandson, Anthony, erected a monument in his honor, which still stands today, it says:" Anthony Hinton, Esgr. d May 7, 1598, age 66 Grandfather to Mr. Hinton, Privy Councillor to Charles I "
The manor of Earlscote is strangely beautiful & peaceful, it is surrounded by its somewhat un-prepossessing farm buildings. It was moated during King Edward VIII reign, when he would spend time there. The ponds still remain on two sides. There are curious stones(not local) in and around the ponds which is said to be of Druidic origin. "The house is mentioned in the book Kenilworth by Sir Walter Scott." There are secret passages running all through the upper part of the house. These secret passages led to many ghost stories. It is also said that there were priests who used these passages & hidden rooms to celebrate mass in the days of the Reformation.
Anthony carved his own and his wife's initials inside the cupboard in his bedroom. The "Earlscote" is still standing. Anthony and his wife, Martha, were very generous, almost every church in Wiltshire, during their time, received beautiful gifts. It appears this branch of the Hinton family secretly supported the Catholic Church even though King Henry VIII forbid his statesmen to support this church.
