Arrival in Maryland 1638. The Pearsall family and Brent family had a large trade handled through Kent Island, Maryland. The Brent family name was Samuels wife's maiden name. Tobacco grown by the Pearsall family was smuggled through Swedish ships. At the time there was a huge demand for tobacco. It was a profitable business to smuggle tobacco into the Swedish kingdom. Kent Island was a convenient trading spot.
