Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/King-10614

Samuel King (father of Hannah King) was born circa 1680 in Charles Towne, SC. It is believed he was one of three sons of Thomas King and his wife, Mary. It doesn't seem likely there would be another family of Kings in that small band of settlers that made up the beginning community of Charles Towne. The Will of Thomas King does not name his three sons.

The eleven children listed for Samuel and Elizabeth are also listed in above register. Samuel and Elizabeth King owned a plantation of 1004 acres called "Cypress Pond", immediately east of Mt. Pleasant, in the Charleston District. It consisted of three different grants to Samuel: 180 acres June 12, 1709;324 acres January, 1716/17;and 500 acres on April 4, 1717. (See Reference 6).He gave 100 acres of land to his oldest daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Whalley on May 23, 1739.At his death, he stipulated in his will that his land would be sold and the proceeds divided equally amomg his children.(See Reference 7).The plantation was sold to John Hasell, a son of the Reverand Thomas Hasell, in 1750 for 1050 pounds sterling, a great deal of money at that time.
